Are you a motorcycle enthusiast? Do you have dreams of the open road? Would you like to participate in a super fundraising event with hundreds of Australians all over the country? If riding motorcycles isn’t your thing, you still might want to ‘get on your bike’ and support a great cause.
Very cool fundraising event
This year’s Black Dog Ride to the Red Centre
is being held from 18-24 August marking the third year of the national fundraiser. The ride aims to raise awareness of depression and suicide prevention. In 2011, almost 300 riders raised $161,665 to assist the Black Dog Institute
in implementing their Community Education Programs across Australia.
Individual rides will leave from the following capital cities, each with an itinerary that ends in Alice Springs.
Plan for every rider
If you aren’t able to commit to the full ride, you can still participate on a shorter course or even as a pillion rider. The plan is to get as many people moving in one direction as possible, all supporting a great cause and having fun along the way.
Ride founder Steve Andrews
is hoping to raise $250,000 this year, eclipsing previous year’s efforts. For more information on the ride - or to make a donation - head to www.blackdogride.com
If you’re still not sure, check out Black Dog Ride on Facebook
for terrific photos and inspirational stories. Be warned, your inner bikie is going to be tempted to pull on the leathers and head out to Alice Springs.
