Everyone’s talking about the mining boom but our view is the opportunity for many jobseekers comes in the construction side of the Australian resources industry. We’ve covered the topic of mining construction jobs before. But nothing puts things into perspective better than an image so we went to work on our latest infographic. We extracted information about the 98 projects currently in the advanced stages of development and condensed it into a visual representation.

Key findings about construction jobs

You won’t be a surprised to hear Western Australia and Queensland dominate the landscape for construction work. What might open a few eyes is it’s not the minerals sector creating the most opportunity; it’s energy projects. That’s right, offshore jobs and LNG jobs comprise nearly 76% of all the resources projects in the advanced stages of development. If you’re thinking about a mining construction job, maybe it’s time to consider an energy construction job instead.
